Zero-carbon Buildings in Nanjing




The ‘green lighthouse’ is a zero-carbon buildings in Nanjing which has been built in 2015. This building is certified by LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) which is an American certification. The first picture shows the appearance of ‘green lighthouse’. The ‘green lighthouse’ is located in high-tech zone. This building is a demonstrative project which cooperate with Denmark. The light source of ‘green lighthouse’ include roof and all around of this building. According to Le Corbusier, ‘Light creates ambiance and feel of a space. As well as the expression of structure’. Thus, the design philosophy of ‘green lighthouse’ is saving energy, especially light energy. The following picture show the consideration factors of zero carbon design. The zero carbon design could reduce energy consumption. In addition, the ‘green lighthouse’ is maximum using renewable energy sources.



The lighting technology of ‘green lighthouse’ has been rigorous calculation. The jagged glass curtain wall has variable illumination angle. The picture shows the design philosophy of jagged glass curtain wall. The ventilation system of ‘green lighthouse’ adopt variable air volume system (VAV). The picture shows the ventilation principle of ‘green lighthouse’.
