Transformed Stormwater Park: Qunli National Urban Wetland


The Transformed Stormwater Park: Qunli National Urban Wetland covers 34 hectares which is located on Harbin, China. The main purpose of Qunli National Urban Wetland project is increasing rainwater and flood management capacity. This Qunli National Urban Wetland provide leisure facilities, the pedestrian road and public communication space for local residents. The first picture shows the master plan of Qunli National Urban Wetland.
The main issue in this area is water pollution due to water treatment plant. This waste water would discharge into Cultural Wetland Park. In addition, the water level fluctuation would more than 2 meters between dry season and rainy season. The following pictures show the design sketch of project.





This project is a possible solution of the flood disaster issues in cities. The flood disaster issues include economic, water resources shortage and ecological aspects. The planning team provide rainwater garden and stormwater collect system to solve flood disaster issues.
The planning team also design several sightseeing platforms, five pavilions and two tourist towers in the site. The materials of five pavilions cover bamboo, wood, stone, brick and metal. These facilities provide innovative public space for local residents. The final pictures show the public space.
